Podcasts, Cheap DVD's, and Hurt Locker. One of these things is overhyped, can you guess which?

Howdy Folks,

Man, lots of stuff going on the past few weeks and I haven't had time to update you. I've got podcasts to post, reviews to go over, Worst of 2009 list to post, and all kinds of fun stuff for you guys. I will keep the jibber jabber to a minimum and get right to the tender pork belly of this post and get ya'll up to date.

PODCASTS!

Download the Christmas Special!

We heard stuff from some of my favorite Christmas movies: Lethal Weapon, Black Christmas (1974), Edward Scissorhands, Scrooged, Mickey's Christmas Carol, Chopping Mall, He-Man and more.

Amazon is doing some big 2010 clearance sale on DVD's. It always cracks me up what the deem as "art house" films. Regardless, you can find some good deals. I normally don't like to hit yall with gratuitous product links, but if you like DVD's and those nefarious blu-ray things, then this is a good opportunity to stock up.

In other news, is anyone as sick as I am of hearing people talk about Hurt Locker? I mean, I got enough of it when it came out, now there's all this oscar buzz. Seriously? Adademy Award? I mean, don't get me wrong, I think the Oscars are pretty silly, especially now that we *need* 10 nominees. However, it's almost too much to for me to handle to thing that Hurt Locker is even remotely considered as "the best film of 2009". I thought it was shot well and had some great effects and style, but the characters were thin and boring, the narrative was nearly non-existent, the war-time sympathy content card was thrown out more than I could stomach and the movie went no where. Seriously. Ignore the hype and watch it again and explain to me how it was better than Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. Hell, explain to me how it was better than Santa Buddies.

Let's have a quick recap of Kathryn Bigelow's film career shall we? And we're talking best ofs. See below.

Yeah, so let's give her an academy award for more bro flavored action, because let's face it...we're anti-American if we don't nutt over iraq content.
