Post Oscar Round-Up Podcast

Howdy Folks,

The Oscars just ended and everyone creamed their collective jeans over the exact stuff we thought they would in predictable Academy Award fashion. The lack of surprises these days are pretty upsetting, but yet we still crawl back for more. I feel like watching the Oscars is a lot like having one of those ex's that you know is bad news but you can't say no because..."you know what...maybe this time will be different". Well guess what? It's not. You always end up with a black eye or burning when you pee. Just like the oscars.

In this week's podcast we take a look at the Oscars that never were. Hearing music from films that probably should have gotten more recognition than they did, or films that totally got robbed by some other movie that you really have to strain to remember. We also dicussed our primal rage and anger thoughts on this years Award Ceremony. It's not all bad folks, but you don't tune in to hear us sweetheart back and forth about things that make us smile...do you? Didn't think so.

So, I'm not going to type it all out, cause unless you live in an underground bunker deep below the earths crust beneath the Atlantic ocean, you'd know how it went. Score Selection #26: Paul Hertzog - Freeing The Waters

I know it's not exactly a film score, but here's a semi-new album from film composer Paul Hertzog. Since Harold Faltermeyer came out of retirement, I figured I'd mention this too. Hertzog hasn't really recorded anything since his Bloodsport and Kickboxer days, and his sound hasn't really evolved that much either. A little more New Wavey than when JVCD was jump kickin' Bolo Yeung in the face. This album came out in late 2009 and features more of that dreamy syth-heavy atomosphere that Hertzog was known for in those "sentimental scenes" before someone got their face karate chopped off. It's no Kumite Theme, but at least it's something new out there for fans of his previous work. Hope this is the start of a new trend of awesome synth dudes coming out of retirement. Harold Faltermeyer tribute podcast!

In a move that solidifies the fact that the trend of 80's being cool longer than the actual decade was, Harold Faltermeyer has come out of retirement to score the new film Cop Out. This film, while not exactly on my high list of things to see, managed to get my ass in the theater based solely on this information. It also happened to inspire this here podcast featuring music from the awesome career of Mr. Faltermeyer. You're gonna want to barrel roll over the back of your couch, fingers poised like a little gun and "PEW PEW PEW" at your roommate bad guys while being totally pumped by some of the music in this show.
I won't go into a lengthy description about why ole' Harold was a stone cold bad ass because that's all in the podcast. We also reviewed Crazy Heart, Cop Out, and discussed sure fire tricks to employ when getting involved in an oscar betting pool...cause let's face it, a Tyson chicken could probably pick the winners.
